2-Day course Upholstery Cleaning and Fine Fabrics With trainers Jared Long & Lee Breen from Train to Clean
Get ready to dive deep into the world of upholstery cleaning with Train to Clean's interactive course that covers everything from the basics to advanced techniques. You'll get hands-on experience with real furniture as Jared and Lee teach you all about fabric identification, pre-testing, and everyday cleaning. Plus, they will provide you with all the tools you need to tackle even the most specialised fabrics, like cotton, linen, viscose, and cotton velvets. Don't worry, they'll also cover any pesky problems that may arise during the cleaning process and give you the skills needed to solve them like a pro!

Date: 10th and 11th October 2024
- Courses start at 09:30 and finish around 16:00. Please arrive on site by 9:00 am.
- Light refreshments throughout the day and a buffet lunch will be provided. For dietary requirements, please contact us directly on 01678 865812.
- All attendees will receive a fully comprehensive training and reference manual to take away, as well as a Certificate of Attendance.
- Free parking is available on site, and the location is in close proximity to the M6. Direct trains run into Penrith station. Directions and a list of local hotels are available on request.
Course Contents:
- Upholstery fibres: different fibres used within fabrics, fibre identification, and a practical burn test.
- Fabric styles: different styles of fabrics.
- pH scale and the correct use of products: buffered cleaning solutions, demonstrations into buffered solutions.
- Upholstery cleaning checklist, photos, pre-inspection using real-life furniture, soiling, and different pre-tests required for successful cleaning.
- In-tank rinse explanation for different types of soiling. CHAT
- Setting up ready to clean, dry soil extraction, agitation, different methods, grooming, drying, and important steps to cleaning.
- Hot water extraction, hands-on practical demonstrations, encapsulation cleaning and very low moisture cleaning.
- Labels, problems encountered, cellulosic browning, velvet pile correction, pinking, water marking.
- Methods for velvet cleaning, DWD, cleaning with cellulosic neutralisers, linen and cotton cleaning, fabric protection.
- Hands-on practical demonstrations on cotton cleaning, viscose, and cotton velvet cleaning.
